How to Make Money With AI Videos (and Stay Monetized)

What YouTube will and will not pay for, how Partner Program eligibility works, and other ways to earn with AI video.

Quick answer

You can make money with AI videos, including on YouTube, as long as each video offers original value. YouTube lets channels that use AI join its Partner Program, but it will not pay for mass-produced, repetitive or reused content, and you must disclose realistic AI-generated scenes. Most channels need many months to reach eligibility. Selling AI video services to businesses can pay sooner.

Can you make money with AI-generated videos on YouTube?

Yes, you can make money with AI-generated videos on YouTube, but only if your channel offers original, varied value that viewers would choose to watch. YouTube has said channels that use AI in their content remain eligible to monetize, as long as they follow its monetization policies and disclose realistic altered or synthetic content.

What YouTube will not pay for is volume without substance. Its monetization policies say your content should be your original creation and should not be mass-produced, generic, repetitive or manipulative. Reviewers look at your channel as a whole, including your main theme, most viewed videos, newest videos and your titles, thumbnails and descriptions.

So the real question is not whether AI was used. It is whether a viewer gets something from your video they could not get from the last ten videos on your channel, or from a hundred copycat channels. If the answer is yes, AI is just a production tool. If the answer is no, the channel is unlikely to be monetized, no matter how many videos you upload.

YouTube's inauthentic content policy in plain English

The inauthentic content policy means YouTube will not monetize channels whose videos feel interchangeable or look made from a template. On July 15, 2025, YouTube renamed its repetitious content policy to inauthentic content and clarified that it covers content that is repetitive or mass-produced. YouTube said this kind of content was always ineligible.

The current policy page groups the main problems like this:

  • Generic or repetitive content. Not allowed: image slideshows, templated storylines or scrolling text with little narrative, commentary or educational value, and AI-generated content made with generic templates that gives the impression of mass production without the creator's own insight. Allowed: a series with the same intro and outro, as long as each video has a distinct storyline, focus or concept.
  • Reused content. Repurposing other people's videos or online material without significant original commentary, substantive changes, or educational or entertainment value. This includes videos that only read text from websites or news feeds you did not write. It applies even if you have permission, and monetization may be removed from your entire channel.
  • Unsatisfying or off-putting content. Shock-for-views formats, stitched-together unrelated AI clips and deceptive visuals, such as a realistic fake disaster. YouTube gives allowed examples too, like using AI to visualize a unique character and story you invented, or to edit your scripts.
  • AI personas on sensitive topics. Channels where an AI-generated persona presents itself as a human expert giving advice on health, legal issues, finances or politics cannot be monetized.

For a money channel, that last point matters. An AI host giving investment tips is a clear policy problem.

Partner Program eligibility: the numbers that matter

To earn ad revenue on YouTube, your channel must be accepted into the YouTube Partner Program, and that starts with hitting an audience threshold. Right now the YouTube Help Center lists two ways to qualify:

  • 1,000 subscribers and 4,000 qualified public watch hours in the last 12 months, or
  • 1,000 subscribers and 10 million qualified Shorts views in the last 90 days.

Watch hours from Shorts in the Shorts Feed do not count toward the 4,000 hours. You also need to follow the monetization policies, live in an eligible country or region, have no active Community Guidelines strikes, turn on 2-Step Verification and link an AdSense for YouTube account. YouTube says a review decision typically takes about a month.

Changes coming February 1, 2027. YouTube says entry thresholds for new creators will change to 8,000 qualified watch hours in the last 365 days, or 20 million qualified Shorts views in the last 90 days, still with 1,000 subscribers. Channels already in the program are not affected. To earn from the Shorts Creator Pool each month after that date, creators will need 10 million qualified Shorts views over the last 90 days.

There is also a lower tier. Fan funding, YouTube Shopping and Creator Partnerships open at 500 subscribers plus either 3,000 qualified watch hours in the last year or 3 million qualified Shorts views in the last 90 days. YouTube says those requirements are not changing. Check the Help Center before you plan around any number, because YouTube updates these pages.

When you must disclose AI in your videos

YouTube requires you to disclose AI-generated or meaningfully altered content when it looks realistic. You do this with the AI use setting in YouTube Studio during upload.

You must disclose content that:

  • Makes a real person appear to say or do something they did not do.
  • Alters footage of a real event or place.
  • Generates a realistic scene that did not actually happen.
  • Creates music that is the main focus of the video.

You do not need to disclose clearly unrealistic content, like an animated fantasy world, or minor edits like color correction, beauty filters and background blur. YouTube also lists production help that does not need disclosure, including using AI for an outline, script, thumbnail, title, captions or idea generation, and cloning your own voice for voice-overs.

Disclosing is not a penalty. It protects your channel and keeps viewer trust. Skipping it on realistic content is the bigger risk.

Faceless AI channels: what works and what fails

Faceless AI channels can work when a real person supplies the ideas, research, story and judgment, and AI handles parts of production. They fail when the plan is to upload as many near-identical videos as possible.

Formats with a fighting chance:

  • Explainers with real research. Clear answers to specific questions in a niche you know, with your own analysis.
  • Original stories or characters. Fiction or animation you invented, using AI to visualize scenes. YouTube names this as an allowed example.
  • Tutorials and walkthroughs. Screen recordings with your own voice or a clone of your own voice, showing how to do something useful.
  • Commentary and reviews. Your opinion and analysis on products or topics, not just a reading of someone else's article.

Formats that often get turned down: scraped clips with music, AI slideshows with robotic narration of web articles, the same story template with names swapped, fake news events and AI experts giving money or health advice.

A simple test: if you removed the AI voice and visuals, would your script still be worth reading? If not, fix the script first.

Other ways to make money with AI videos

Ad revenue is only one way to make money with AI videos, and it is often the slowest. Several other paths do not depend on reaching Partner Program thresholds.

  • Make videos for businesses. Local businesses need short promo clips, product demos, explainer videos and social posts. AI tools help you script, edit, caption and resize faster. You can start with one client.
  • Edit for other creators. Turn long podcasts or streams into short clips with captions. Creators who post often need help keeping up.
  • Sponsorships. Brands may pay to be featured once you have an engaged audience in a clear niche, even a small one.
  • Affiliate links. Recommend tools you actually use. The FTC says to disclose affiliate relationships both in the video and near the links.
  • Your own products. Templates, guides or courses related to your channel topic.

Service work usually pays soonest because you are paid per project, not per view. Many creators run a service and a channel side by side. For more ideas, see our list of AI side hustle ideas.

What it really takes, and the honest timeline

Building a channel that earns from AI videos usually takes many months of steady uploads, and many channels never reach the threshold. That is not a reason to skip it. It is a reason to plan for it.

What you will need:

  • A narrow niche you understand well enough to say something new.
  • A repeatable workflow for research, script, visuals, voice, edit and upload.
  • Time. Good videos take hours each, even with AI.
  • Patience with data. Study which titles and topics hold attention, then improve.

What goes wrong: chasing trends you do not care about, buying expensive tool bundles before you have an audience, copying a viral channel's format, and getting rejected from the Partner Program for reused or repetitive content. If you are rejected, YouTube says you can appeal within 21 days or keep uploading original content and reapply after 30 days. The no-camera, no-channel option

If growing a channel for months is not realistic for you, one option needs no camera, no tech skills and no audience: the MON$TER MONEY ambassador program. It is one path among several, not a replacement for building skills.

AI companies and data buyers pay to license real business data, meaning records from a company's software, operations and customer-service systems, not personal data. Many established businesses have years of it and do not know it has value. MON$TER MONEY is free and run by Monster Data Agents LLC. You introduce business owners you know. MAX, MonsterData's AI agent, handles the conversation with the owner by text, and Rudy, our AI agent, onboards you by text and helps you find leads.

You are paid a share of MON$TER's fee only if a business signs a licensing deal and the buyer actually pays. Most referrals do not close, and nothing is guaranteed. Read the earnings disclaimer before you start. Frequently asked questions

Can you make money with AI-generated videos on YouTube?

Yes. YouTube says channels that use AI remain eligible to monetize if they follow its policies and disclose realistic synthetic content. It will not pay for mass-produced, templated or reused videos, so each video needs its own substance.

How do I make money with AI on YouTube?

Pick a narrow niche, use AI to speed up research, scripting and editing, and publish original videos on a steady schedule. Once you meet the Partner Program thresholds and pass review, you can earn from ads and other features. Many creators also earn from sponsors, affiliate links and services.

Do faceless YouTube channels get monetized?

They can, if each video delivers original research, story, commentary or teaching. Faceless channels built on scraped clips, slideshows or AI narration of other people's text are often rejected under the reused or inauthentic content rules.

What are the YouTube Partner Program requirements?

Right now you need 1,000 subscribers plus either 4,000 public watch hours in 12 months or 10 million Shorts views in 90 days, along with policy compliance, 2-Step Verification and a linked AdSense account. From February 1, 2027, new creators need 8,000 watch hours or 20 million Shorts views, still with 1,000 subscribers.

Do I have to disclose AI-generated content on YouTube?

You must disclose realistic AI-generated or meaningfully altered content, such as making a real person say something they did not say or showing a realistic event that did not happen. You do not need to disclose AI help with scripts, thumbnails, captions or clearly unrealistic animation.

Can I use an AI voice on a monetized channel?

YouTube's policy does not ban synthetic voices, and cloning your own voice for voice-overs does not need disclosure. The problem is content that only reads text you did not create or feels mass-produced. Your script and ideas need to be original.

What is the fastest way to make money with AI videos?

Making short videos for local businesses or editing clips for creators usually pays sooner than ad revenue, because you are paid per project. Ad income depends on meeting audience thresholds first, which usually takes months.
